Wharf at Carabelle
Carabelle is a small town in the panhandle of Florida just below Apalachicola. This is the Carabelle River which leads out to the Gulf of Mexico. I painted this in the early morning before the sun became to unbearable. The small house on the pier is what attracted my attention. I’ve always loved structures that are built on piers and think it would be fun to live in such a place. This happens to be the harbor masters office. The painting was done by using only titanium white, ultramarine blue, Indian yellow, and alizarin crimson which helps maintain harmony among the colors. I did add a touch of cadmium red to the roof of the house to help accentuate a foreign note of color.
