Cape Porpoise

Painted on location in Cape Porpoise, Maine as part of our television series “Painting and Travel”. It was painted in the early morning hours when the sky was very clear and bright. I tried to catch the sunlight as it began to drift across the house in the distant right with warm yellow colors and kept the shadows in a deeper blue and purple shade. Soft ripples on the water were kept that way so as not to bring too much attention to the water and to keep more interest in the areas of the houses and boat.
