Red Ryder

Painted in Pagosa Springs, Colorado at the Red Ryder Museum where famous artist Fred Harmon lived and worked on his popular cartoon series “Red Ryder and Little Beaver”.  The comic strip also make the Red Ryder BB gun very popular especially in the movie “Christmas Story” in which Ralphie is warned he might “shoot his eye out.”The scene I painted was on old school house and is part of the Red Ryder Museum where many of Freds paintings are shown along with a number of historic buildings. This painting which was featured on our PBS series dealt with light and shadow with warm lights on the sunny side of the building and then the cooler lights on the shadow sides. Lots of texture in this painting.
