From August 15 through November 16, 2024, the Clearwater Historical Society Museum and Cultural Center will host a special exhibition honoring Roger Bansemer, a distinguished artist and Clearwater native. This retrospective will showcase Bansemer’s extensive body of work, reflecting his deep connection to the region and his lifelong dedication to the arts. The exhibit will coincide with his induction into the Florida Artists Hall of Fame and highlight his journey from local recognition to national acclaim.

The exhibition will feature a rich collection of Bansemer’s works, including paintings from his early career in Clearwater, book illustrations, and notable public art projects. Among the highlights will be the original poster for the inaugural Clearwater Jazz Holiday and murals portraying local musicians. A significant part of Bansemer’s legacy in Clearwater is his designation as the city’s first official artist-in-residence in 1986—a pioneering role that underscores his influence on the cultural identity of the area.

An opening reception is scheduled for August 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the museum, located at 610 S Fort Harrison Avenue. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet Bansemer, hear about his creative journey, and celebrate his contributions to the city. The event will also include a raffle of two original paintings donated by Bansemer, with proceeds benefiting the Clearwater Historical Society and the Clearwater Arts Alliance.
