Sarah visits Southern Horticulture Nursery in St. Augustine, learning about Florida’s palm trees, including the resilient cabbage palm. She then heads to St. John’s Botanical Garden in Hastings, where Dr. John Rossi discusses rare palm species and the oak canopy that helps them adapt. Meanwhile, Roger paints a deep woods scene on canvas starting with Burnt Sienna and Burnt Umber to create depth, adding texture to create an atmospheric Florida woodland painting.

While visiting the Virgin Islands, Roger finds a courtyard which he’ll paint in acrylics back in his studio adding dramatic lighting, accurate shadows from the sun and finishing the piece by adding a pair of donkeys to create a center of interest. Sarah enjoys the island and walks through the town to see the many colorful shops and sights around the town.
