Tiger Point Marina

Fernandina Beach, Florida

This marsh and boat yard scene was painted on location with acrylics. First, a careful drawing was made of the sailboats in the background and then the paints were applied using primary colors and a few earth tones. Sarah speaks with the owner of the marina and boatyard.

Brunswick’s Waterfront

Brunswick, Georgia

Roger begins by laying out the composition with charcoal and demonstrates the use of transparent colors and a very limited palette of red, yellow, blue plus white. Achieving the proper look of the ellipses in the tower is explained. Roger finishes the painting in the studio making the necessary color changes and adding small details. Sarah and her little dog Mic tour the waterfront to see where during World War II, sixteen thousand men and women worked to build 99 steel Liberty Ships.

The Yorkshire Terrier

St. Augustine, Florida

Starting with a toned board of Burnt Sienna, Roger demonstrates a quick and effective technique for creating lifelike animal hair by using loose but carefully placed brush strokes. Sarah visits a veterinarian and talks with her about the advantages of adopting a rescue animal.
