Painting and Travel with Roger and Sarah Bansemer

“Painting and Travel” takes you places you want to see and puts them on canvas. Viewers are taken out of the art studio and into the natural surroundings with Sarah and Roger Bansemer, an accomplished painter, videographer and instructor who shares his creative  process while teaching the basics and subtleties of putting brush to canvas using oils or acrylics.    At present there are 10 seasons consisting of 130 episodes that air nationwide on Public television. Check local listings for scheduling.

Our  filming has brought us all over the United States including Alaska as well as the Caribbean and Mexico. Painting and Travel is airing on 331 stations nationwide including the Create Channel. Over the past year the series has aired multiple times per week reaching 167 markets with a coverage of 91.89% of the country.

Roger Bansemer

Roger has always worked as an artist. His prolific career covers a wide spectrum, from earlier abstract works to the present day representational paintings of landscapes, shorebirds, wildlife, beachscapes, Florida wilderness, lighthouses, boats, portraits, cityscapes, still life and more. Rogers work can be seen at the Bansemer Studio in St. Augustine FL or on his web gallery.

He has eight published books featuring his paintings with forewords by author James A. Michener, artist James Rosenquist, and film maker James Cameron. Roger has been the guest of two expeditions to the Titanic wreck site, and is the first artist ever to have made paintings while in a three person submersible hovering over the bow of Titanic. His other adventures include logging over 700 flights as a hot-air balloonist.

Sarah Shurcliff Bansemer

“Enjoy every minute you can of what you love.” Sarah studied music and drama at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and has always had an eye for beauty and a love of travel. She is co-producer of the series choosing the locations, sites to visit and people to talk to. She narrates the travelogue part of every episode with her gentle voice and easy going style introducing viewers to each new site. Sarah’s first children’s book is titled, “What Teddy Likes”.
