Painted on location at the Kentucky Railway Museum. The actual scene had dark green trees in the background but I eliminated them in favor of a simple contrasting background. The entire painting was begun with a rich burnt sienna tone on the board and I added to that rusty feeling with more darks and different shades of warm and cool colors.
