This February and March, visitors to St. Augustine have the unique opportunity to view On the Path of Beauty, a solo exhibition of paintings by Roger Bansemer, hosted at the Mission Nombre de Dios. Running from February 1 through March 16, this exhibition is the centerpiece of the Jubilee Festival of Artists and World of Culture, a diocesan celebration aligned with the 2025 Jubilee Year announced by Pope Francis. The event invites visitors to reflect on the connections between art, faith, and the natural world.

Set amid the serene, historic grounds of the Mission—a site renowned for its Spanish-style architecture, marshfront views, and contemplative walking paths—the exhibition is designed to foster quiet reflection. Bansemer’s paintings, many of them created en plein air, harmonize with the surroundings, offering viewers a meditative visual experience rooted in the landscapes of Florida and beyond.

As part of the broader festival, guests can also attend an opening reception on Sunday, February 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Pilgrim Center. This event includes a meet-and-greet with Bansemer and other artists, along with an artist’s blessing—a moment of gratitude and recognition for the role of creativity in spiritual and communal life.

The Mission will also host a Plein Air Artists Invitational from February 1 to 20, during which artists are welcome to paint across the Mission’s grounds. Additional programming includes a talk by Elizabeth Gessner on sacred art, taking place February 16. Admission to all events, including the exhibit, is free.
